I am also wearing a dress that really doesn't deserve the name. It is completely and utterly see-through, I am only a thread away from public indecency but it is so light I can't tell I'm wearing it and it's so cool so my family are just going to have to live with it!!!
I also forgot to wear a hat today to I'm not feeling great. I lay out in the sun all afternoon. It was so nice and relaxing just shutting my eyes and listening to the TW radio play and having to do nothing but lie there and bask with just a bit of a breeze to cool things down. Bliss!!!

Ah well, he'll get over it no doubt. As the weather has been so nice he was out in the garden wth us all weekend so I guess having the bad weather today and being cooped up inside hasn't gone down well with him. He's just antsy.
I had much better weather in York, there was actually a line as I got to Rainton where it went from muggy and overcast but sunny to cold grey overcast and foggy. Very odd.
The meeting was fine, she let me know a few more details about the job and I'm going to search the company website to learn more about what they do. I got a whole slew of compliments about myself from her though so that was nice. When I headed into town afterwards I went to find the office so I'll know for Monday. Oh and I bought mum's birthday present today too!!!
I also got a letter asking me to an interview on Wednesday about another NHS job... can't actually remember what that one was, it's been a while since I applied, but I'll look it up again.
While in York I did some shopping so I'll be able to wear my new hats!!!! I got another sun hat, a beige cardigan with a green pattern to complement the green hat and a brown shirt/blouse thing to go with the brown hat and also a pair of brown trousers but I'm taking them back coz they don't fit especially well. Add those to my wardrobe and suddenly I have outfits!!!!! The brown top is vertically striped in the fabric, not colour, and makes me look rather skinny so I'd have bought that no matter what!!! But, yay, hat outfits!!! I will get round to taking pics but it's never been a great time and my camera looks to be on the outs :o( so it may take a while.
I rounded off the day with the first frappucino of the year, yay spring!!!!

We started the day with our traditional easter egg hunt round the back garden in our pjs then did the usual turkey lunch thing for Easter today. Gran came and so did Robyn's fiance Alex so they're finally introduced. The puppy didn't manage to eat Gran so it's all good!!!
Dad and I rescued a bunch of toad spawn from the pond to complement our frog spawn and we have established an amphibion sanctuary in pots under netting up by the greenhouse. I'm hoping based on the noises coming from the pond tonight that there will be more frog spawn tomorrow so I can take some to raise in a tank inside coz it's really fun to watch!!!
When mum and I went to take gran back home at the end of the day she asked if I wanted to see her hats as I'd been commenting earlier on how expensive hats have become and how I want to wear more hats. I am now the proud oner of 4 40's hats!!!! There's the brown felt hat my gran wore for her wedding, a green felt one, a little black boater and a coral coloured one that is all folds and does make me look somewhat mushroom like but it's a gorgeous hat for sheer craftsmanship so I had to have it. The brown one is kind of tall but wraps round my head wonderfully, it feels so great and has the history, which is really nice... you know what? Photos will get this done easier...
...but that'll have to be tomorrow coz my camera is a piece of crap and the batteries are dead.
Now I'll have to go out and buy a brown and a green outfit!!!! Winter coats do have their advantages in one respect, you can wear whatever you like on a blank canvas.

As for my anticipated clothing crisis I went through three outfits before settling on something so fashionable it made me feel a little bit ill. It was just ticking boxes all over the place... if a little AW08. I wound up wearing my tuxedo jacket with a plain black tshirt and dark skinny jeans. I then accessorised by wearing a long silver multistrand necklace, black heeled gladiator sandals, a cobalt blue snakeskin oversized clutch and two cocktail rings. Oh and I had the jeans folded up to show a bit of ankle... which made it a bit SS09.
I love fashion and I love clothes but I don't like to be able to tick of trends so easily. It was a bit annoying... especially knowing these things and being able to identify where ideas come from. But if you know fashion you'll have seen I was fashinable and if you don't you'll just have thought I looked nice. So I guess it's win win.

I'm on a bit of a fashion binge today it would seem but I've just stumbled across this great site that I feltI needed to inform the world about. How I haven't heard of it before it anyone's guess but I'm hooked. It's www.shopstyle.co.uk and basically instead of trawling through every high street shop's website looking for something (in my case Hats) you go here and it has pretty much everything from Marios Schwab and Luella to Miss Selfridge and New Look. I am in heaven... and currently looking through the 2000+ results that come back for Day Dress... yay!!!

All in all a good haul!!!
However I am annoyed that so far the high street doesn't seem to be picking up on the Basso & Brooke SS09 show with the lovely Japanese print fabrics and obi belts. I am utterly in love with that collection but the only thing I've found so far even remotely picking up that theme was a single dress in New Look that was made of such cheap tacky material it made me cringe!!!!! Harrumph!!!!

Earlier in the week I had a delightful evening pairing socks and tonight, finally, I managed to get the entire underwear collection organised. My pants are folded and organised by use and colour. My bras are a delightful rainbow of colour and, of course, my socks are all paired as well as my stockings. I feel very organised. I love my underwear!!!

However, no matter how much of a bargain it was or how pretty it is or how happy it has made me I still shouldn't have bought it. But, you know, beautiful, happy-making bargain!!!!

Ok, I have sorted the dress. It's lovely, plain black jersey with a lovely neckline and a sort of obi sash. Now I have another problem. What the bloody hell do I wear with that???? I brought a selection of tights/bags/shoes but the stubling block is the tights. Once I get those sorted I'm good. Alas, it ain't so simple. I could go safe with some grey ribbed ones. I could go fashionable with the purple tartan. I am not wearing head to toe black.
...oops, started typing ths an hour ago and then wandered off. In the meantime I have burst into tears in front of my family and sat sobbing pathetically for a while. Interestingly I feel better. So sod it, I'm wearing the black dress, the grey tights, the sky high heels and my feathered headband. That will do. I have a splitting headache and I just can't be bothered any more. I still have to make mini cupcakes after dinner for afternoon tea tomorrow at gran's.

It's my grandmother's 85th birthday on Monday so on Sunday we're doing the family gathering thing for a surprise lunch. So I need an outfit that it smart but not too smart, conservative/demure, not too trendy, practical, able to sit/eat/walk/play with a toddler/be a grown up in, a little bit fashionable as Michelle seems to have twigged clothes and Claire was always into fashion and it needs to look good. To say, "Yes, I may be unemployed and wasting my life but don't I look fabulous, aren't I delightful and a credit to my family etc. And none of you wish to ask me about my lovelife/jobhunting/life in the least for my outfit is just that damned good." Needless to say such an outfit does not exist in my wardrobe. I fear shopping will have to occur tomorrow morning. *sigh*

I shall, hopefully, put up a non-drag-queen-like photo later when I have the final try on and parental approval... although what I shall do if they don't approve is anyone's guess!!! I look like your perfect 50's house wife. My cardigan even has pearl buttons!!!

How's this for today's random purchase:
An antique brush set. They're 'pure bristle'... does anyone know what bristle is??? I know what bristles ARE but what is bristle??? I also came *this close* to buying a creme silk 30's dress. Like actual 30's... I'm still wrestling with my bank balance about going back and trying it on, it was beautiful. Long fitted sleeves with a row of buttons up them to a high scooped neck with little cap sleeves over the fitted ones at the top. Long length, I would say just below knee, with a sort of intricate bib front. Beautiful. I would never wear it but I love to own beautiful things. It's like wearing pretty under wear underneath jeans and a hoodie!!!! It would probably need a hat though... hmm... are there places where I could wear such a dress??? Hell, I don't especially care. I cannot buy it. It is beautiful and impractical and I have no money!!!! Antique brush sets are both beautiful and functional thus are allowed.

I even ironed a shirt. I am against ironing. (I'm against anything I can't do... including pancakes as of this evening. I can prepare a dinner party for 8 with 5 courses and do that perfectly but I can't make freakin' pancakes!!!) Anyway, if clothing needs ironing it soon gets dropped from my wardrobe... except I have a thing for cute short sleeved shirts this season. It's all about the tailoring, I love tailoring. But tailoring means ironing... I cannot iron. But I referred to How To Walk In High Heels and gave it my best shot. There are now one or two creases ironed into the shirt but I did it!!!
I'm ready.

ETA: While I'm being shallow, I would like to note that my nails have been perfectly manicured and painted a different colour (matching my outfit in some way) every day this week. This is somewhat impressive I think!!!! ... and very shallow!!! Hee!!!!

Also today I am supposed to be meeting Skip one of my old best friends who I haven't seen in over a year... she has had a baby in that year and I am so freaked out by this. I am not a baby person. The only baby I like is Ellis coz he's related to me (and welsh). I am just dreading being introduced to said baby coz I DO NOT DO BABIES!!!!!! *whimper*
